1. Char Dham Yatra to resume for devotees
Kedarnath Temple will be reopened on May 17. According to the authorities, the idol of Lord Shiva will be moved out of its winter abode at Ukhimath’s Omkareshwar on May 14. Badrinath Temple, which was closed on November 19 last year, will also reopen on May 18. Gangotri and Yamunotri temples will open on May 14. 2. Another monolith appeared in Mumbai
Continuing the series of the mysterious appearance of monoliths at random places, the latest one was spotted at the Jogger’s Park in Mumbai. The metallic structure is said to be approximately 12 ft in height and was placed exactly at the centre of the park. Reports indicate that the first monolith in India was seen in Ahmedabad. 3. Statue of Unity crosses 50 Lakh visitors
Gujarat’s iconic Statue of Unity which is the tallest statue in the world has set a new record! Since the inauguration in October 2018, the statue has seen a footfall of 50 lakh visitors. The 182 meters tall statue is dedicated to Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel and was built to attract tourism in the state. Read more.
4. Authorities to deboard air passengers for not wearing masks properly
DCGA has ordered airline authorities to deboard “unruly passengers” from flights if they refuse to abide by the COVID-19 related rules. In the wake of the rising cases and a potential second wave, the brief by DCGA says that passengers who don’t wear their face masks properly or refuse to maintain physical distance on the flight despite warnings will be not allowed to fly with the airline. 5. Tourists can now book a night safari in these National Parks of MP
The authorities of Madhya Pradesh have allowed night safaris to boost tourism in all the three national parks of the state – Bandhavgarh National Park, Kanha National Park, Pench National Park. The route and timings will be decided by the forest officials so that there is no harm or threat to both the wildlife and the tourists. Read more
