This week in October Edition 3, we are covering some of India’s latest travel news from Goa, Vrindavan’s Bankey Bihari Temple, Arunachal Pradesh, and Kerala’s Sabarimala temple. Some more states have opened up, others have newer laws in place to promote safe tourism and yet others have completely shut down to curb the spread of novel coronavirus.

1. Goa to soon become a drug-free state
The Goa cabinet has approved laws that will soon make Goa a drug-free state. Under the new policy, tourists who arrive in groups and cook in open spaces would be penalized. This is done to give a boost to the tourism of the state. The tourism department aims to make Goa popular not just for the beaches, but also for beauty and nature, including the hinterland. 2. Bankey Bihari Temple in Vrindavan is now indefinitely shut within two days of its reopening
Bankey Bihari Temple in Vrindavan is a sacred temple for the followers of Lord Krishna. However, after 7 months of lockdown, the temple was reopened to the public on the occasion of Navratri. On the very first day, more than 25000 people arrived at the temple to offer their prayers. Considering the excessive crowd and fear of Coronavirus, the temple has been shut until further notice. 3. Now you can travel to Arunachal Pradesh with a negative COVID report
In a tweet sent out by Chief Minister Pema Khandu announced, “Arunachal Pradesh opens today to welcome tourists. Get mesmerized by its beauty and rejuvenated by the purity of its nature. Those who dreamt—it’s time to explore.” Read the new SOPs here.
4. Say Hello to Workations! Now travel anywhere with your laptop and a strong Wi-Fi connection
Due to the monotony of the COVID pandemic, more and more people are preferring a workation over a week-long holiday. A workation allows you to work remotely from any part of the world and at the same time enjoy a holiday. 5. Sabarimala Temple will be opened for devotees for five days
The Malayalam month of Thulam in Kerala is auspicious for the devotees. Hence, the temple will reopen for five days amid the COVID-19 outbreak. Only 250 people will be allowed to visit in a single day. Among other things, a covid-19 negative report is mandatory to enter the temple. Pilgrims will be required to take the test 48 hours before reaching Pamba. Know more here.
