These games have one thing in common: they’re sure to provide loads of fun and help you pass the time on your journey. And if you’re traveling with kids, don’t worry, we’ve included games they’ll love too. So, to combat potential boredom and keep passengers of all ages happy, here are some fun road trip games recommended by our customers.
1. Degrees of separation
Lavina, a researcher and naturalist, has completed 18 road trips with Savaari. Despite being a self-confessed heavy sleeper, she stays wide awake during road trips to soak in every moment of the journey. Her favourite trip so far was from Mangalore to Ooty, a journey lasting over 10 hours. Lavina shared, “My friends would all want to sleep, but I wanted to keep them awake. There were just too many sights to see! I didn’t want to miss out on any, and my researcher friends didn’t want to regret sleeping through beautiful spots like Madikeri and the wildlife sightings in Bandipur. So, I came up with a game called Degrees of Separation.”
How to play
One person picks two unrelated things. The other person must create a chain of plausible associations to connect them. If it can’t be solved in six steps, the round is over.

2. 21 Questions
Rakesh booked a Savaari from Delhi to Udaipur with his friends for his bachelor’s party before his wedding. Having left behind his wild partying days, he desired a more regal and luxurious getaway for his bachelor trip, so he chose a trip to Udaipur in a Savaari. Inspired by the movie Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara, his favourite road trip game was 21 Questions. This game kept his friends occupied and helped them uncover what was on each other’s minds, just like in the movie.
The game
Test your skills and see how quickly you can determine what your travel partner is thinking. This game can keep you engaged for a few minutes or even hours, depending on your guessing skills and the questions you ask. It’s easy to play and can be made as challenging or simple as you like.
How to play
- One player thinks of something.
- The other players start asking questions about this thought.
- You only have 21 questions to figure it out.
- A question cannot be repeated.
- You can guess the player’s thoughts at any point. If you guess correctly, you get to start the next round. Congratulations on being the best guesser in the car!
3. Regional food master
Colin, an entrepreneur, foodie, and food blogger, loves going on road trips to explore local cuisines. He draws inspiration from these journeys to document new ideas on his blog and incorporate culinary innovations into the cafe he owns in Hyderabad. On one trip from Hyderabad to Koraput in a Savaari, Colin and his team set out to taste tribal delicacies. During this trip, his passion for food led him to create an impromptu game called Regional Food Master. The objective was simple: collect the most regional snacks between the start and finish of the road trip. By the end, they had gathered a delightful assortment, from Bhajia and Bara to Faraa (desi-style momos) and Tilgur. Though there was one winner, everyone enjoyed a fantastic feast!

- At each location you stop at, you have to find a local snack.
- You can only get one food item per gas station or rest stop.
- The food item must be created within the region where the stop is located.
- Whoever has the most snacks by your destination wins.
4. Hum the tune
Tina, a great singer and karaoke enthusiast, found her moment to shine on a road trip from Chandigarh to Dehradun last September. Knowing her friends weren’t as skilled at singing, she devised a game where singing talent wasn’t necessary: Hum The Tune. By the end of the trip, Tina recalls how the cab sounded like India’s Got Talent, with everyone humming and joining in the fun. She used the ultimate road trip playlist to enhance this experience.
How to play
- Each player takes a turn humming the chorus of a song.
- If another player recognizes the song, they can join in and start humming with you.
- Before you start humming, you can give your car mates a hint by telling them the song category, such as Bollywood, retro, pop, etc.
5. Word Association
Ranjani always loved a good road trip with her family, but there inevitably came a point where her 7- and 9-year-old children would start the constant chanting of “Did we reach the place yet?” This restlessness often led to screaming, crying, and shouting. To restore peace, Ranjani introduced a sense of competition with a game of Word Association. This classic game not only kept the kids focused and entertained but also put their school knowledge to the test. It is easily one of the best road trip games for kids! It was so much fun that, at one point, even their Savaari chauffeur joined in.
How to play the game
See how far you can string along words through association. Let’s say the first word is “Tree.”
- Player 1: Tree

6. Never have I ever
Keisha, a frequent Savaari user, went on a trip with her college girlfriends to Manali. Inspired by the movie Yeh Jawani Hai Deewani, she wanted to recreate every bit of the movie but preferred the comfort of a cab over a train. To keep her friends engaged, she decided to play a game of Never Have I Ever. In the movie, this game usually includes alcohol, but Keisha believed that hydration was crucial, especially on a trip to Manali. So, they did a lot of chugging—of water!
Fortunately, unlike traveling by train, Savaari cabs provide multiple stops where you can find clean bathrooms, thanks to the drivers knowing the best pitstops. This worked out perfectly for them, as by the end of the trip, Keisha managed to keep her group hydrated, uncover some scandalous secrets, and enjoy a really comfortable journey.
How to play
- Think of fun questions for the other players.
- Ask the questions by starting with, “Never have I ever…” For example: “Never have I ever shoplifted before?”
- Whoever drinks means that they have done the thing mentioned.
- Players take turns asking questions.
7. Battle of the bands
Rohit, a well-known DJ in Bangalore, decided to take a much-needed break and planned a road trip to Goa with his friends. Being the life of every party, he was excited to bring his musical flair to the long journey ahead. By the time they reached Goa, not only had they crowned an ultimate music champion, but they also had a playlist full of memories from their trip.

- One person gives a theme, like “songs about cities” or “love songs.”
- Two contestants have 60 seconds to pick their song.
- Each contestant takes a turn playing their selected song.
- The rest of the car judges the two selections and picks a winner.

8. Secret place race
Priya, an avid traveler and geography enthusiast, booked a car rental for her road trip from Mumbai to Pune with her cousins. They all loved exploring off-the-beaten-path destinations, and Priya was determined to make this trip special by introducing a new game: Secret Place Race. As the Savaari cab cruised along the scenic route, Priya pulled out a detailed route map she had printed out for their trip. With just a few seconds left, Anjali’s pointed to the tiny dot labeled Bhivpuri near a winding river. Everyone erupted in applause, impressed by her quick navigation skills. The game continued, with each person taking turns to choose secret locations and challenging their friends to find them. They discovered charming villages, quaint rivers, and even historical landmarks they had never heard of before. How to play the game
- Gather Your Map: Make sure you have a detailed route map of the area you’re traveling through. It can be a physical map or a digital map on a tablet or phone.
- Select the Secret Place: One person examines the map and selects a small town, village, river, or other landmark. This location should be relatively obscure to make the game challenging. Announce the name of the secret place to the rest of the group.
- Start the Timer: Give the second participant 60 seconds to examine the map and locate the secret place. The person searching for the location can ask for hints if they get stuck, but each hint will deduct 10 seconds from their total time.
- Locate the Secret Place: The second participant must find the secret place on the map within the allotted 60 seconds. If they find it, they earn a point. If not, no points are awarded, and the next round begins.
- Alternate Turns: Rotate turns so each person gets a chance to select a secret place and to search for one. Keep a tally of points to determine the winner at the end of the game.
- Declare the Winner: At the end of the road trip, tally up the points to see who found the most secret places. The person with the most points is declared the winner of the Secret Place Race.
9. Find that car
On a family road trip from Chennai to Pondicherry, Ramesh, a father of two energetic kids, was looking for a way to keep them entertained and engaged. His children, Aditi and Karan, were starting to get restless with the long drive. Drawing from his childhood memories, Ramesh decided to introduce a game his parents used to play with him: Find That Car. As they cruised along the East Coast Road, Ramesh explained that a car model will be picked, and the first person to spot it earns a point. The winner gets to choose where we stop for lunch.
They started with spotting a Maruti Swift. Aditi and Karan pressed their faces against the windows, eagerly scanning the road. The excitement in the car was palpable as they each tried to be the first to spot the chosen car. “Swift! I see a Swift!” Aditi shouted, pointing to a red Maruti Swift zooming past them, and that’s when Aditi scored the first point. The game was not only fun but also educational, as Ramesh took the opportunity to teach Aditi and Karan about different car models and brands. 10. Blackjack on the Road
Rajiv and his friends embarked on a journey from Guwahati to Kohima in a comfortable Savaari cab. The scenic views of lush green hills and winding roads were mesmerizing, but after a few hours on the road, they needed something to keep their spirits high. Rajiv, an avid card player, had a brilliant idea to introduce some excitement: a game of Blackjack.
Blackjack, typically associated with casinos, seemed like the perfect way to pass the time. The goal of Blackjack is simple: reach 21, or get as close as possible without exceeding it. If a player’s cards total more than 21, they bust and lose the round. If no players hit 21, the player with the closest total wins the point.
They decided to use one of the empty seats as their makeshift card table, and Rajiv dealt the first round of cards. As the game progressed, each friend took turns deciding whether to “hit” (draw another card) or “stay” (keep their current hand).
